The children of Tender Leaf Preschool are enjoying a week of tree planting. Tender Leaf has been given six fruit trees to add to its play yard: a pair of mulberry trees, two pear trees (Bartlett and Asian), a cherry tree and a persimmon tree. The children especially enjoy digging the large holes (and future homes) to our baby trees and playing with the rich soft soil in the Tender Leaf Play yard and garden. Tender Leaf would especially like to say a big Thank You to Radha, owner of Doak Creek Native Plant Nursery of Eugene, OR, who has donated many native plants and a dozen blueberry bushes to landscape our preschool. An essential part of Neo-Humanist education, the children grow more love and compassion to the trees and plants by learning about and taking care of their leafy friends.
